New volunteers are needed to support Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Working alongside staff at local fire stations, volunteers help to educate the local community in fire safety, and gather referrals for Safe and Well visits to people’s homes.
Volunteers can also get involved in Service events, such as youth initiatives, station open days and corporate activity.
The scheme has run for a number of years in Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole, and is now extending into Wiltshire and Swindon.
Volunteers can:
- Be part of a motivated team
- Wear a uniform with pride
- Learn new skills
- Meet new people
- Support their local community
- Enhance their CV
Neil Chamberlain, the volunteer co-ordinator for Wiltshire, said: “Volunteering is a great way to make a difference in your community. As well as supporting the Fire and Rescue Service, you can get involved in local events and help people to access the advice and information they need to stay safe.”
Anyone aged 18 and above can apply to be a volunteer – you will need to be available for two to four hours per week, and be involved for a minimum of six months.
