I am currently a firefighter within another Service – can I apply for a transfer?
You are more than welcome to apply to this process alongside the other applicants. If you are offered a role with DWFRS, we will request training records and proof of competency from your current Service. A skills gap analysis (SGA) will then be carried out and conversion training will be arranged to bring your competencies into line with DWFRS. If we run a transfer process, this will be advertised separately. We don’t currently have any transfer processes planned.
Providing your SGA supports that you are competent you would not be required to complete the full Basic Skills Acquisition (BSA) course or the apprenticeship and you would be brought in on a competent rate of pay. Should your performance in relation to your competency raise concerns we reserve the right to revert you to your development rate of pay while these concerns are addressed.
I am currently a Watch/Crew Manager within my current Service – if I were successful in this process, could I be offered a Watch/Crew Manager position with DWFRS?
No, this recruitment process is only recruiting to firefighter vacancies. However, if you successfully gain a firefighter role with DWFRS you will be able to apply to future internal promotion processes.
