Weymouth firefighters are again hosting their highly successful Christmas Fire Cracker event, raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity, SafeWise and Julia’s House Hospice.
Starting at midday on Saturday 16 December at Weymouth Community Fire Station, the free event will be officially opened by Santa who will then take up residency in his grotto from 1pm to 4pm.
During the afternoon, crews from Weymouth will be focusing on Christmas safety with a live fire demonstration, as well as a road traffic collision demonstration to highlight the importance of not drinking and driving.
For the first time, visitors will be able to experience the thrill of the popular Blue Light Run, a Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service driving simulator that gives children the excitement of being in a real fire engine under blue light conditions.
As well as being able to meet Santa, visitors will be able to enjoy a range of stalls, refreshments, train rides, performances from local school choirs and majorettes as well as a birds of prey demonstration.
Crew Manager and event organiser Adrian Miller said: “We’re so pleased to be bringing the Fire Cracker back again this year, especially after the amazing success of last year’s event. We’re looking forward to welcoming everybody on what is sure to be a fun and educational afternoon.”
The draw for the Fire Cracker raffle will take place in the evening after the event, with fantastic prizes up for grabs including Sea Life passes, meal vouchers to local restaurants, wine and hampers all gratefully received from local businesses and supporters.
Raffle tickets are now available from Weymouth Fire Station on Radipole Lane and will also be available on the day.
