There will be the chance to meet local firefighters and see a range of operational vehicles when Tisbury Fire Station holds an open day this Saturday (1 July).
The day, which will run from 10am to 4pm, is helping to raise funds for the Fire Fighters Charity.
Crew Manager Matt Mullins said the day promised to be great fun for all ages. “It’s free to come in, but obviously we’re hoping that people will spend lots on the different attractions. We will have a wide range of displays about the Fire and Rescue Service, refreshments and demonstrations. It would also be great to see anyone thinking about joining the crew here at Tisbury as an on-call firefighter.”
The displays will include a number of fire engines, both modern and vintage, equipment used for water rescue and animal rescue, and vintage firefighting equipment.
Firefighters will also be putting on a variety of drills throughout the day to include road traffic collision extrication and live fire demos using pumps and ladders.
