Poole firefighters are holding a coffee and cake day this Friday to raise awareness and money for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. They ask people from all over the UK to host their own coffee mornings and donations last year raised £29.5 million.
The Poole event is being hosted by The Dancing Goat in Parr Street on Friday 29 September and will run from 10am until 4pm. As well as raising money for a good cause, the day will give firefighters the opportunity to get together with the community, offer fire safety advice and promote local on-call firefighter recruitment.
Watch Manager Mark Downing said: “The Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning events are a great way to help raise awareness and money for people with cancer, ensuring they never have to go through it alone. As a Fire and Rescue Service, we are always there for our communities in an emergency, but it is always nice to get involved in a non-emergency way as well. We’re grateful to the Dancing Goat for their support – as the fire station is out of town, we thought it would be better to go somewhere more central – and we hope to raise a lot of money!”
