Firefighters and scouts hold charity car wash

Date: 1st November, 2016

A charity car wash is being held in Weymouth this Saturday (5 November) in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity and a local scout group.

The event is being organised at the fire station in Radipole Lane between 10am and 2pm.

Firefighters will be teaming up with Weymouth West Air Scouts to wash cars in return for donations – and, given that it’s ahead of Bonfire Night, there will also be the chance to get advice on staying safe from fire.

Station Manager Simon Dennett said: “The Scouts approached us and asked whether we could work together to raise some funds, and we were pleased to agree! This is a great way to support a local community group and a very worthwhile charity, so we hope to see lots of people with their cars on Saturday.”

The Fire Fighters Charity provides help to serving and retired personnel, their widows/widowers and young dependants through the provision of sheltered accommodation, recuperative facilities, rehabilitation and therapy, as well as giving financial support to those who need it. The charity works with some 11,000 beneficiaries every year at a cost of £9 million per annum, and these services are financed almost exclusively by fundraising.
