Description: At 2.50pm we received a call to smoke coming from the woods near Wareham Forest on Bere Road. Two pumping appliances and two landrover pumps were mobilised, upon arrival a fire was found and further resources were mobilised including water carriers, a unimog and a command support vehicle.
Crews from Wareham, Redhill Park, Christchurch, Westbourne, Wimborne, Swanage and Springbourne attended along with lightweight off-road vehicles from Bere Regis, Swanage, Hamworthy, Poole, three water carriers from Poole, Wareham and Ringwood (Hampshire & Isle of Wight FRS) and a command unit from Gillingham. Firefighters used multiple hose reel jets and main lines to extinguish.
The incident was then scaled back to four relief appliances from Sturminster Newton, Dorchester, Shaftesbury and Ferndown and the stop came in at 5.49pm. We believe the fire was started deliberately.
