Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer Ben Ansell said: “Today, we have received the sad news that retired Watch Manager Guy Tadman, from Trowbridge fire station, has lost his fight against cancer. Guy was initially diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in November 2019 and received a stem cell transplant last April; however, the cancer returned in January this year.
“Guy was a firefighter for 22 years and served at Trowbridge for his whole career, only retiring in January due to his illness. He was an experienced, professional and skilled firefighter who was highly regarded by his colleagues, and his profile was both national and international through the Trowbridge fire station Twitter account, which he ran from 2013 until his retirement.
“His passing is a huge loss to us all and my thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. Flags at our fire stations and workplaces across Dorset and Wiltshire are flying at half-mast in Guy’s honour.”
