Description: At 5.14pm this afternoon (10th May) firefighters were called to a commercial premises at Alvediston to reports of a thatch fire. On their arrival, firefighters quickly requested support. We currently have 12 fire engines and several specialist vehicles at the incident (approx. 60 firefighters). Crews have striped the thatch, put fire breaks in place and are using breathing apparatus, hose reels and main jets to extinguish the fire. Firefighters will be on scene overnight dealing with the fire and dampening down. Update 11th May
- (9am): Steady progress has been made overnight but the incident is ongoing with crews still actively firefighting and stripping back the roof. Five fire engines, a water carrier and aerial ladder platform still in attendance.
- (1.30pm): Progress is still being made steadily with multiple appliances still on scene.
