Vehicle Fire – Wimborne

This evening we received several calls to a motorcycle on fire on Rowlands Hill in Wimborne Minster. A crew from Wimborne fire station attended and extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet. The motorcycle was 100% destroyed by fire.

Crew from Portland Fire Station were returning from training and came across a RTC Persons Trapped on Manor Roundabout Weymouth which involved a single vehicle and Police booked in attendance at the same time. For medical reasons the male driver awaited attendance of Amb to self extricate and casualty was left in Amb Care whilst crews made vehicle safe.

Crew from Springbourne Fire Station attended reports of a fire in the open near Beach Hut on Boscombe Promenade. The fire was out on arrival extinguished by members of the public and crew continued to dampen down using 1 hose reel jet to prevent escalation

Crews from Cranborne, Verwood and Ringwood and a Hazardous Material Officer attended an incident involving a leak from a Heating Oil Tank. Crews were able to contain a potential large leak of heating oil into the ground using an environmental kit and waited for local heating engineer to attend to continue to make safe

A crew from Amesbury were mobilised to a vehicle fire in Pennings Road Tidworth. The owner of the vehicle had extinguished the fire using three extinguishers. Crews continued cooling using one hose reel jet.

A crew from Bridport were mobilised to reports of a fire on the cliff edge by Eype beach. Upon arrival, crews discovered two separate fires, both out on arrival.

A crew from Bridport were mobilised to a van fire in Dottery Road, Salwayash. Crews located a fire in the engine bay of a small commercial vehicle. They extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet.

Gas leak – Ferndown
28th May, 2026 at 12.14pm
We received a call at 12.14pm this afternoon with reports that a vehicle had struck a small gas main on Ferndown Industrial Estate. Crews from Ferndown and Wimborne are currently in attendance along with Dorset Police and the Gas Board. A 25m exclusion zone is in place and 200 people have been evacuated whilst the area is made safe.

4pm update: The incident has been scaled back to one appliance and a relief crew from Redhill park is now in attendance. The exclusion zone remains in place.

Garden fire – Swindon

On the 27th of May Swindon and Westlea crews attended to reports of an out of control bonfire in a residents back garden. Crews worked to extinguish the fire using 3 main jets after it had spread to the trees, fence and shed.
