Property fire, Winterbourne Whitechurch

Date: 25th August, 2025

Time: 11.31am

Description: Firefighters were called at 11.31am this morning (25th August) to reports of a fire in a mobile home just off the A354 in Winterbourne Whitechurch. At the height of the incident, we had 11 fire engines, two water carriers and other specialist vehicles on the scene (approx 50 firefighters). Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and main jets to extinguish the fire and prevent fire spread.

The fire was extinguished at approx 1.30pm, but crews remained on scene most of the afternoon dampening down. We were supported on scene by colleagues from Dorset Police, South Western Ambulance Service and Dorset Council. The fire affected three single storey static homes and an outbuilding.

The stop message was received at 5.55pm. A joint investigation, with Dorset Police, has now begun into the cause of this fire.

Tuesday 26 August, 10am update: The investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.
