Property Fire – Ferndown

Date: 27th March, 2023

Time: 3.45pm

Description: Ferndown - on call firefighters from Ferndown and wholetime firefighters from Redhill Park attended reports of a fire at a property on Westwood Avenue.  On arrival, crews found the property well alight and requested two further fire engines - these proceeded from Poole and Ringwood.  The fire in the roof space involved the inverter for the property's PV panels (solar panels) and was extinguished by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using a hose reel jet and main line.  There were no injuries reported at the incident.  A building control officer from Dorset Council was requested to attend in order to inspect the integrity of the roof structure.
