Internal flooding – Bournemouth

Date: 4th August, 2024

Time: 9.58am

Description: Bournemouth - a crew from Springbourne fire station attended a property on Westby Road in Boscombe after a 999 call was received reporting water dripping through the ceiling of a flat from the flat above. The water was dripping through the light fitting, which posed a fire risk, so the crew isolated the power to the lighting circuit and gave the occupant advice on what to do next in order to be safe. The fire service don't routinely attend internal flooding and a crew will only isolate utilities once in attendance - if a responsible person is able to do this, then there is no need to request fire & rescue service assistance, and occupants can seek help & advice from a specialised tradesperson directly.
