Description: We were called to Sopley Common, near Hurn, at 1.43am this morning (16 August) for a fire affecting approx. 100m x 100m of heath, woodland and gorse. At the height of the incident, we had crews in attendance from Ringwood (Hants), Springbourne, Redhill Park, Poole and Westbourne, together with small off-road appliances from Christchurch and Verwood, a water carrier from Poole and a command support unit from Hamworthy – approx. 30 firefighters. The stop was at 7.33am, and we have now left the scene, although a reinspection will be held later. Airport operations were unaffected.
Relief crews later attended from Ludgershall, Poole, Ferndown and Sturminster Newton.
