Description: We were called to Mead Way, Swindon at 11.31am this morning (7 March) after a strong smell of gas was reported. Two crews were on scene, from Westlea and Swindon, and firefighters liaised with engineers from Wales & West Utilities on site. It appeared to be a gas leak underground, so a 100m safety cordon was put into place, with the road closed between the junctions for Whitehill Way and Shaw Road. This was lifted by 1.30pm, when the leak had been made safe.
