Description: At 3.31pm on 13 July, we were called to a large fire affecting two fields of standing crops on the outskirts of Trowbridge, an area of approx 100m x 150m. Crews are in attendance from Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon, Gillingham, Frome (Devon & Somerset FRS), Devizes and Chippenham, supported by small 4x4 appliances from Hungerford (Royal Berkshire FRS) and Blandford, and a water carrier from Andover (Hampshire & Isle of Wight FRS). There is a lot of smoke in the area, so local residents should close doors and windows if affected and concerned. We have also had crews from Westbury and also Blagdon (Avon FRS) dealing with a shed fire off Bradford Road, Trowbridge. This is now extinguished.
5.45pm update: The fire has now been contained and extinguished, with firefighters continuing to damp down the affected area with hose reel jets. We expect to scale back our attendance very soon.
