Chimney Fires – Ramsbury and Rowde

Date: 13th February, 2020

Time: 6.55pm

Description: 18:55 we received a call to chimney fire in a thatched property in Ramsbury. A crew from Ramsbury, Marlborough and the Aerial appliance from Swindon attended the incident. Crews used Safe Working at Height equipment to remove a broken chimney pot. Crews monitored internal walls for signs of heat.   19:53 we received a further call to a chimney fire in a thatched property in Rowde. Crews from Devizes, Calne with assistance for Bath fire engine and aerial appliance. This was a chimney fire involving a woodburning stove. Crews used stirrup pump and rods, checked the roof void and used a thermal image camera. The external thatch was checked using a 12m ladder.
