Factory yard fire – Trowbridge

Date: 28th April, 2026

Time: 3.17pm

Description: 4.24pm - We were called to Avon Way, Trowbridge at 3.17pm today (28 April) for a fire involving two lean-to buildings containing manufacturing waste and pallets in a factory yard. Crews from Trowbridge, Warminster, Devizes and Chippenham are on scene and a water carrier has been mobilised from Wilton. Additional appliances are on their way from Calne and Chippenham, together with a command unit from Pewsey. Two breathing apparatus wearers, two hose reel jets and two main jets are currently in use to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading. There is a significant smoke plume so local people have been advised to keep doors and windows closed if they are nearby and affected.

5pm - Six fire crews are now fighting this fire, supported by a water carrier - the command unit has been stood down. On-site staff are using machinery to create breaks in the waste to help contain the fire. Canal Road has been closed due to hose running across the carriageway to the hydrant.

7pm - we are scaling back to two crews (Warminster and Tisbury) and the water carrier, with the stop in at 6.21pm. Twelve breathing apparatus wearers, two main jets and two hose reel jets have been in use, and work continues to dampen down and deal with hot spots. The fire is believed to have started accidentally and has been contained to two wooden buildings storing textiles, wood and paper.
