Firesetter donation from local company

Date: 13th September, 2018

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has received a £500 sponsorship donation from a local company in support of its Firesetter Intervention Scheme.

Wessex Fire & Security, which is based in Shaftesbury, presented the cheque to local firefighters last month.

Gaynor Mant, Firesetter Intervention Scheme lead for DWFRS, said: “We are very grateful to Wessex Fire & Security for this generous donation, which will help us to buy resources for our Firesetter Advisers to use when working with young people. Our aim is for those we support to fully understand the consequences of firesetting behaviour and the potential impact on them, their families and the wider community.”

Jess Lutwyche, managing director of Wessex Fire & Security, said: “In February, we held a fire seminar which is how we first heard about the scheme and met some of the firefighters involved. Wessex Fire and Security are proud to be supporting Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service in such a worthy scheme that benefits the wider communities. As a business, we are passionate about fire safety, our specific areas are expertise are designing, installing and maintaining fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers and carrying out fire training and advising on the correct fire signage.”
