Tisbury Fire Station throws open its doors

Date: 13th August, 2018

Tisbury Fire Station is opening its doors to the public this weekend, with a day that promises something for everyone. The open day will run between 12pm and 4pm on Saturday (18th August), and any money raised will be donated to the Fire Fighters Charity.

There will be a wide range of activities to suit the whole family, including learning about the dangers of cooking during a chip pan fire demonstration as well as a look around the fire station to learn about the equipment and vehicles on station which are used to save lives every day. The fire crews will also be conducted some live demonstrations, showcasing how they deal with incidents they face every day such as road traffic collisions and rescues from fire.

Watch Manager Matthew Stopps, from Tisbury Fire Station, said: “This is a great way for our local community to find out more about the local fire station. We would like as many people as possible to come along to our open day, have a great time and leave with some vital fire and road safety messages. There’s even the chance to talk with the crews about what it is like to be an on-call firefighter and sign up to join us.”

Also coming to support the event are Wiltshire Police, RNLI, Dementia Friends and

Tisbus.  Families will have the opportunity to meet the local DWFRS Safe and Well team and find out more about becoming an on-call firefighter at Tisbury.
