Sherborne fire station to hold charity car wash

Date: 20th September, 2022

A charity car wash is being held in Sherborne this Saturday (24 September) to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The event is being held at the towns fire station on Coldharbour between 10am and 3pm, and firefighters will be washing cars in return for donations. The local care home Trinity Manor will also be supporting the fundraising event selling cakes and drinks.  All contributions will be going to the charity.

Watch Manager Simon Gillett said “The charity provides everyone within the fire and rescue service with a vital lifeline when things are tough, whether it’s rehabilitation after injury or someone else to turn to during mental health or financial challenges. We know that income has dropped significantly during the pandemic, so we’re keen to raise as much as we can for this great cause.  Drivers can come and get their vehicles cleaned by our firefighters, grab a cake and make a charity donation to support a very worthy charity.”

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist, lifelong support for all serving and retired members of the UK fire services community, covering mental, physical and social wellbeing. It is reliant on donations to meet the cost of operating its services to support over 55,000 beneficiaries.
