Poole firefighters are holding a charity car wash this Sunday (13 July). The event, which is due to take place from 9am until 1pm, will be to support the Fire Fighters Charity and Cure Leukaemia.
The two charities have been chosen to help support families in need and provide much needed research nurses for life-saving treatments and trials.
Sarah Inwood, a firefighter at Poole Fire Station, has also just completed a London to Paris Cycle Challenge to help fundraise for Cure Leukaemia after a friend was recently diagnosed with the disease.
Station Manager Chris Wood said: “Here at Poole Fire Station, we’d love to raise some money for these well-deserving charities. We know just how important donations like these are in helping these charities to support families. The Fire Fighters Charity will always play a crucial role in looking after past and present fire service personnel, and Cure Leukaemia helps to fund vital research and clinical trials for life-saving treatments.”
He added: “We’d like to raise as much money as we can, so skip washing your car, and leave it to us. Everyone is welcome and we’re looking forward to seeing you all there.”
To try and boost fundraising efforts, the station will also be holding a bake sale, with sausage rolls kindly donated by Greggs. The OneNine58 coffee van will also be in attendance with a percentage of their sales going to the charities.
The fire station can be found on Safety Drive, Poole. To find out more about the charities they are supporting, please see their websites:
