An open day at Trowbridge fire station this Saturday (5 August) will also celebrate South Asian Heritage Month.
The event will be open between 10am and 3pm, and will feature demonstrations such as hot oil fires and road traffic collision extrication. Blaze Bear will make an appearance, and you can find out more about working for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.
As the open day falls within South Asian Heritage Month, firefighters are particularly keen to invite members and allies of this culture, but people from all parts of the local community – and of all ages! – are welcome.
Anyone attending on Saturday is asked to use public transport where possible but, if you need to drive, please park at the Lovemead car park in Duke Street, which is a short walk from the fire station on Hilperton Road.
Watch Manager Larson Taylor said: “This should be a great day for the whole family, with lots to see and do, and we also want to learn more about South Asian culture. We’re hoping to have South Asian delicacies available for visitors to try, and there will also be other refreshments on sale.”
