Date: 22nd March, 2017
A charity car wash is being held at Redhill Park fire station in Bournemouth this Saturday (25 March) to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity and Round Table Children’s Wish.
Firefighters will be cleaning cars between 10am and 2pm in support of a fundraising effort by colleague Janine McCumiskey.
She’s running the London Marathon in April in aid of Children’s Wish, a national charity based in Bournemouth, dedicated to granting handcrafted wishes for children and young people with life threatening illnesses across Britain and Ireland.
It’s the first time that Janine has taken on a marathon – in fact, the furthest she’d ever run prior to this was 11 miles – and training is now well underway, alongside her shifts at work.
She said: “Round Table Children’s Wish is a great charity to support, and it’s based locally, while the Fire Fighters Charity looks after fire and rescue service personnel. The car wash is for donations, and there will be the chance to look around the fire station, find out more about what we do and even ask about fire safety at home!”
