Charity car wash at Mere fire station this Saturday

Date: 12th March, 2024

A charity car wash is being held in Mere this Saturday (16 March) in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity.

The event is being organised at the town’s fire station on White Road between 10am and 2pm, and firefighters will be washing cars in return for donations (suggested minimum £5 per vehicle).

Firefighter Kelly Gasson said: “The Charity provides everyone within the fire and rescue service with a vital lifeline when things are tough, whether it’s rehabilitation after injury or someone else to turn to during mental health or financial challenges. We know that income has dropped significantly during the pandemic, so we’re keen to raise as much as we can for this great cause.”

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist, lifelong support for all serving and retired members of the UK fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. It is reliant on donations from the fire and rescue community and general public to meet the £10 million cost of operating its centre and community-based services to support over 55,000 beneficiaries.
