Description: Pumping appliances from Trowbridge, Warminster, Melksham and Corsham along with a small 4x4 pumping appliance from Ludgershall and Westbury are currently attending a large field and grassland fire surrounding Westbury White Horse. The incident involved approximately four acres, well alight. The fire is now under control and crews are using hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish.
Update Friday 14th August, 8:15am - The incident was scaled down to three pumping appliances over night where crews continued to dampen down hotspots using hose reel jets and main lines and relief crews will be deployed later this morning. The cause of the fire has not been determined at this stage.
Update 12pm - The incident has now been scaled down further to one pumping appliance, one lightweight off-road vehicle and a water carrier. Good progress has been made.
