Property Fire – Ferndown

Date: 12th May, 2025

Time: 12.31pm

Description:

We were called at 12.31pm today (12 May) to Golf Links Road, Ferndown to reports of a property fire involving the roof and first floor. Crews from Redhill Park, Springbourne, Poole (x2), Wimborne, Westbourne, Ringwood (Hampshire & Isle of Wight FRS), a command unit from Hamworthy and the aerial ladder platform from Westbourne are currently in attendance. Four breathing apparatus wearers are using two main lines and four hose reel jets to extinguish. Residents in the local area have been advised to close windows and doors due to smoke in the area.

The road has been closed temporarily until further notice.

4pm: The incident is now being scaled back and relief crews will be attending from Christchurch and Ferndown.

6.30pm: The incident has now been scaled back to two appliances and a support vehicle. Six breathing apparatus wearers used two main lines, two hose reel jets and the aerial ladder platform to extinguish. Our stop came in at 5.22pm and firefighters remain on scene to dampen down. A reinspection is due to take place later this evening.

11.00am: No casualties have been reported and the reinspection has been completed. We believe the fire started accidentally and suspect the fire started from solar panels.
