Property Fire – Chippenham

Date: 20th July, 2023

Time: 4.09am

Description: Chippenham - property fire.  Two on-call crews from Chippenham fire station were mobilised to a flat on Westcroft after a neighbour rang 999 to report a smoke detector going off and a smell of burning.  On arrival, firefighters roused the occupant and led them to safety from the flat, which was heavily smoke-logged due to a pan being left on the hob in the kitchen. The crews used mechanical ventilation to clear the property and also carried out a Safe & Well check - for more information on this free service, please visit https://www.dwfire.org.uk/safe-and-well-visits/ Huge credit to the neighbours who rang 999 when they heard the alarm and decided to act.
