Description: We were called to Colingsmead in Eldene, Swindon at 1.04pm today (13 September) for a fire in a terraced house. We currently have crews in attendance from Stratton, Westlea, Swindon and Royal Wootton Bassett, together with the aerial ladder platform. Additional resources are en route from Hungerford and Newbury (Royal Berkshire FRS), Wantage (Oxfordshire FRS) and a water carrier from Cheltenham East (Gloucestershire FRS), as well as a command unit from Pewsey. Six breathing apparatus wearers and six hose reel jets are currently in use, and all persons are accounted for.
2.45pm update: The fire is now extinguished, with hotspots being dealt with. The Royal Berkshire and Oxfordshire crews have been released from the incident, while the Gloucestershire water carrier was turned back before arrival. One casualty has gone to hospital with burns. The cause of the fire is being investigated but it is believed to have started accidentally.
5.30pm update: The stop came in at 5.22pm, confirming the fire started accidentally in the kitchen due to cooking. British Red Cross volunteers based at Swindon fire station are on scene supporting the affected family.
