Flat Fire – Westbourne

Time: 03:45am

Description: At 03:35 we received a call from a concerned member of the public, reporting a smell of burning and alarm activating in a flat in Poole Road, Poole. One fire engine from each of Westbourne and Springbourne fire stations were mobilised to investigate. Once in attendance, the crews forced entry to the property and rescued one occupant from the building, alongside two kittens. There was a fire inside caused by unattended cooking, which was dealt with by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, with one hose reel. The casualty was assessed by the crew on scene before it was determined that the ambulance service would not be required. There were no reported injuries to the occupant or kittens.
