Description: Since it was first reported at 1.44pm this afternoon, we’ve received almost 50 calls about a field fire near Salisbury Road, Pimperne. Crews from Poole, Wimborne, Shaftesbury, Westbourne, and Verwood are currently in attendance alongside the water carrier from Poole and small 4x4 pumping appliances from Cranborne and Verwood. The incident involves approximately 800m of stubble crops and hedgerow well alight across three fields. Hose reel jets, beaters and farm machinery are being used to extinguish the fire.
14 August, 9.30am update: The stop came in at 8.15pm yesterday (13 August). Three fields were extinguished and dampened down using three hose reel jets and farm machinery. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots and the incident was handed back to the farmer.
A reinspection took place at 10.30pm where several hotspots were identified and extinguished using hose reel jets and small tools.
A further reinspection was scheduled this morning and a crew from Poole and a lightweight off-road vehicle from Blandford are currently in attendance.
