Electrical installation fire, Weymouth

Firefighters from Weymouth, Dorchester (two fire engines) and Bere Regis are currently dealing with a fire near Weymouth skatepark, Greenhill, Weymouth. Crews were called at 3.45pm to reports of a fire which is affecting electrical infrastructure and had spread to nearby trees and bushes. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two hose reels, foam and a main line to extinguish the fire. Colleagues from Dorset Police have closed the road.

The incident is going and the incident ground has just requested further resources.

We now have seven fire engines dealing with this incident.

There is a large smoke plume in the area. We know it is warm, but local residents have been asked to keep windows and doors closed if possible to avoid breathing in smoke.

The road remains closed while we deal with this incident.

The stop message has been received. 12 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have used two hose reels, two main jets and foam to extinguish the fire. We remain in attendance at this incident, although we are scaling this back to three fire engines. Firefighters will remain on scene for several hours dampening down.
