Description: We were called to Soldiers Road, Norden at 7.41pm on 17 July for a fire involving a tent and a large area of heath. Crews attended from Wareham, Poole, Swanage, Redhill Park, Westbourne and Springbourne, together with a water carrier from Poole and the Wareham Unimog. The fire started accidentally when a camping stove set the tent alight, with the fire also affecting approx. 100m x 40m of heath. Firefighters used hose reel jets and water from the Unimog to extinguish the fire, while three private water bowsers were used to drench the ground and prevent further fire spread. The stop was at 11.22pm, we then scaled back to two pumps overnight to continue damping down and managing hot spots. We are still on scene this morning (18 July), with one fire engine and the Unimog. One person was treated for slight smoke inhalation.
