Barn Fire

Description: At 20:22 this evening Control received a call regarding a barn alight, which contained beef cattle and a diesel tank. Oncall firefighters from Malmesbury and Royal Wootton Bassett, along with wholetime firefighters from Swindon and Stratton St Margaret Fire Stations attended in fire engines, a water carrier and a specialist animal rescue vehicle. On arrival there was a quantity of hay alight on the exterior of the barn and was extinguished using 2 hose reels and drags. The cattle had been removed from the barn prior to the arrival of the fire crews. The fuel tank was isolated by firefighters and a quantity of cylinders removed from the barn. The fire was under control by 9.15pm. A number of fire engines were then also moved around to cover areas in the county, including Faringdon from Oxfordshire and Tetbury from Gloucester
