Reporting a fault with fire safety equipment

Premises within scope of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022

For example – High-Rise Residential Building (18m and above)

As a requirement of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 (FSER), under Regulation 7, a responsible person of a High-Rise Residential Building (18m and above) is required to inform their local FRS of faults with fire safety equipment if unable to repair within 24 hours.

An MS Form for such reporting can be found here.

System Owners & Occupiers Guide – System Non-availability

Premises outside the scope of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022

For example – industrial / schools / hospitals / care homes

For buildings that fall outside of the FSER scope, a parallel MS Form has been created for Responsible Persons to report fault with fire safety equipment within these premise types.

The below MS Form link is intended to be used by a Responsible Person only, to notify DWFRS of any identified faults with fire safety equipment. By completing this form, you will be ensuring the information is sent directly to the correct internal departments, and the information will be made available to operational firefighters if required to respond to an incident within your building. If a fault with fire safety equipment is identified by someone who isn’t the Responsible Persons, this matter should be referred to them in the first instance to ensure an appropriate and proportionate approach is taken to any risks that are presented.

Fault with fire safety equipment reporting form (non FSER)

It is vital that this information stays up to date and accurate, so please ensure that you update us with any changes, as well as follow the steps provided to you once a form is submitted to notify us that your fault has been repaired. This will ensure our records remain current.
