Firefighting equipment

You must consider provision of appropriate firefighting equipment.

Firefighting equipment used correctly can reduce the risk of a small fire (such as a fire in a rubbish bin) from developing into a large one. The provision of firefighting equipment for outdoor events will vary according to the type of event, local conditions and what is brought onto the site. You may need to consider equipment for tackling fires in vegetation, vehicles and marquees.

Higher risk activities, such as catering vans, hog roasts, fireworks displays etc. must have adequate and appropriate firefighting equipment available and sufficient persons nominated to use them.

Arrangements may need to be made to protect firefighting equipment located outdoors from the effects of frost, vandalism and theft.

Training must be provided to emergency teams or other nominated persons in the safe use of firefighting equipment. Firefighting equipment is not normally provided for use by the public.
