Information for partner agencies

Information for partner agencies such as Social Services, NHS, Police, Domiciliary Care Agencies and so on. Please click on the brief video below, which explains how you can help us visit those people most at risk of fire.

A Home Fire Safety visit, sometimes known as a Safe & Well visit, is a free service. During a visit, we discuss fire risks that can occur in the home and offer advice on how to stay safer from fire within the home. With the consent of the occupier, we will arrange the visit at a suitable time for them and us. Depending on where the person lives, it may be a fire crew or an Advisor that visits.

As of 1st December 2025 the way that online referrals is changing. Full details are available in this user guide. Please contact the Prevention Team if you have any questions.

How can you help us?

Whether you are a carer, social worker or another professional that supports people in their homes, we would encourage you to think of fire risks whilst undertaking your role.

We recommend that anyone needing any kind of care and support at home would benefit from a Home Fire Safety visit.

All referrals from partner agencies should be made via our website, where a series of questions will be asked to determine the individual’s fire risk, behaviours, and lifestyle factors. If your client qualifies, they will automatically be referred for a Home Fire Safety visit.

For any clients who do not qualify, our website has comprehensive fire safety information that all members of the public can access, as well as information for businesses and for those within a care profession.

Please note the Home Fire Safety Team work office hours only and we will respond to any queries as soon as possible.

What we can support you and your clients with:

What we cannot support you or your clients with:

Our visits are based on goodwill advice. It is up to the occupier to follow our suggestions and recommendations. We cannot enforce anyone to follow our guidance within their own home.

If you enter a referral on behalf of a client, please make sure you give as much relevant information as possible, including your contact details.

Always make sure the client is aware we will be contacting them and let them know that it could take a few weeks for us to make that initial contact.

Our website has a vast array of useful information. Please see below links to some relevant pages. If you are unable to find the answer to your question on our website, please contact
