Making A Difference Award for ICT team

Date: 14th June, 2023

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service presented a number of Making A Difference Awards at a recent ceremony.

These awards recognise and celebrate outstanding or innovative contributions of staff, volunteers and external colleagues to the Service’s strategic aims.

The presentations were made by Cllr Rebecca Knox, Chair of Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Authority, at the DWFRS annual awards ceremony, held at Tidworth Garrison Theatre on 18 May.

Colin Rowbotham, Adam Slusarczyk and Edward Smith were recognised for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication to the ICT department. The citation stated: “They quietly make things happen; working behind the scenes on multiple projects at once, they have stepped out of their comfort zones and really had to think differently. They are continually developing their knowledge and that of the teams around them. All to keep the essential ICT infrastructure working efficiently and maintaining its security for the frontline services.”

Chief Fire Officer Ben Ansell said: “The awards ceremony is a wonderful way to bring people together and celebrate the depth and breadth of work being delivered by all parts of our Service. As well as recognising the achievements of our staff, it is always an opportunity to give personal thanks to the families and friends who have supported them and the work of our Service. It is often this support that has enabled the quite outstanding achievements to take place.”

Andrew Humphrey, Chief Operating Officer of Kubus, sponsor of the award, added: “Kubus was delighted to be able to support Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service with their annual awards ceremony this year. It was an honour to be the sponsors of the Making a Difference awards and we would like to congratulate Ed, Adam and Colin, who are fully deserving winners”.
