Fire – Holt Heath

Date: 16th July, 2025

Time: 8.29pm

Description: Crews were called to reports of a fire in the open on Holt Heath. Six appliances were initially mobilised from Wimborne, Ferndown, Verwood and Wareham along with a water carrier from Ringwood (Hampshire & IOW FRS) and on arrival found area of heathland alight measuring approximately 100m x 500m. Multiple hose reel jets and main lines were used to extinguish the fire and our stop was in at 9:38pm.

Firefighters remained on scene to dampen down until midnight and three appliances were re-mobilised this morning following reports of smoke in the area being seen. On arrival, crews found another separate area of heath alight caused by underground burning from the previous fire measuring 10m x 3m which was extinguished using two hose reel jets.  One appliance remained in attendance as a watching brief for a period of time.
