Making A Difference Award for T/WM Steve Peel

Date: 14th June, 2023

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service presented a number of Making A Difference Awards at a recent ceremony.

These awards recognise and celebrate outstanding or innovative contributions of staff, volunteers and external colleagues to the Service’s strategic aims.

The presentations were made by Cllr Rebecca Knox, Chair of Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Authority, at the DWFRS annual awards ceremony, held at Tidworth Garrison Theatre on 18 May.

Temporary Watch Manager Steve Peel won an award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and management of Hamworthy fire station. Steve stepped up to the role during the pandemic and has consistently put the needs of the station and the local community first.

Chief Fire Officer Ben Ansell said: “The awards ceremony is a wonderful way to bring people together and celebrate the depth and breadth of work being delivered by all parts of our Service. As well as recognising the achievements of our staff, it is always an opportunity to give personal thanks to the families and friends who have supported them and the work of our Service. It is often this support that has enabled the quite outstanding achievements to take place.”

Brendan Simpson, Sales Director at Firehawk, sponsor of the award, added: “It is now more than 10 years of successful supply of smoke alarms to Dorset & Wiltshire FRS by Firehawk Alarms and, over the years, we have seen the hard work and dedication of so many people who work for the Service. Our warmest congratulations go to Steve, he is a very well-deserving winner.”
