Barn fire – Throop Hollow
24th July, 2026 at 6.43am
We received a call at 6.43am this morning with reports of a barn fire in Throop Hollow. The incident involves a barn measuring 25m x 40m containing approximately 1000 tonnes of hay bales. The barn is going to be left to burn out with a watching brief between crews and the farmer. This is likely to be a protracted incident.

Yesterday's Incidents of interest (1)
Field fire – Whitchurch Canonicorum
23rd July, 2026 at 12.03pm
We received a call with reports of an agricultural fire on Cards Mill Lane, Whitchurch Canonicorum. Crews from Charmouth and Bridport (x2) attended initially, along with a water carrier from Danes Castle (Exeter). The incident involves a barn, containing approximately 100 tonnes of hay bales and 4 tyres – two hose reel jets and a main line are being used to extinguish the fire. Farmers are assisting crews by using farm machinery to remove the hay bales.

24 July update: The stop was in at 10.14pm last night – good progress was made using farm machinery and hose reel jets. Crews remained on scene until shortly after 10.30pm dampening down hotspots, before handing back over to the farmer who monitored and applied water overnight. A reinspection was carried out this morning and a few hotspots discovered which were dampened down. We are no longer in attendance.

Standing Crop Fire – Swindon

We were called to a farm in Castle Eaton Swindon at 13:27 on July 22nd for a fire involving standing crops. Crews attending from Swindon, Stratton, Westlea, Royal Wootton Bassett, Marlborough, and Oxfordshire. The fire is believed to be started accidently and was extinguished using multiple hose reel jets, beaters, 4x4's and farm machinery. Our stop was given at 15:19.

20 Jul 2026 Incidents of interest (1)
Field fire – Coombe Keynes
20th July, 2026 at 3.22pm
We were called to Coombe Keynes at 3.22pm today (20 July) for a fire involving three cut fields. Crews are on scene from Wareham, Dorchester (x2) and Poole, together with small 4x4 appliances from Poole and Swanage, a water carrier from Poole and the Unimog from Wareham. Multiple hose reel jets are in use, and the fire has now been surrounded. Smoke from this incident is visible from as far away as Weymouth and Dorchester.

4.45pm update: The fire has been extinguished and we have scaled back to a pump, a small 4x4 appliance, a water carrier and the Unimog to continue damping down.
