Weymouth Fire Cracker event this Sunday!

Date: 7th December, 2016

This Sunday (11 December) will see Weymouth Fire Station host their free charity Christmas Fire Cracker event, raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity, SafeWise and Julia’s House Hospice.

Starting at 1pm, the event will be officially opened by Santa as he abseils down the tower into the fire station.

He will then be on site all afternoon, staying in his own grotto with the possibility of a snow flurry or two.

During the free admission event, crews from Weymouth will do a live fire demonstration, focussing on Christmas safety, and a road traffic collision demonstration, highlighting the importance of not drinking and driving.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a range of stalls, refreshments, train rides, and performances from local school choirs and majorettes. Children will be able to dress up as a firefighter and take part in other fun activities, including petting some Christmas donkeys.

Crew Manager Adrian Miller, a retained firefighter at Weymouth who’s organising the event, said: “We’re pleased to be able to offer the community this Christmas event in Weymouth and look forward to welcoming them to what we hope will be a fun and educational afternoon. We’re really pleased that we could arrange to have Santa on hand to help teach everybody about fire safety during his busiest month.”

At 4pm, the event will conclude with the draw for the Fire Cracker Raffle. With over 40 excellent prizes up for grabs, all gratefully received from local businesses and supporters, visitors have the chance to win prizes including pantomime tickets at the Weymouth Pavilion, meal vouchers from the Famous Old Spa, Abbotsbury Attractions passes, a Jurassic Coast activities voucher, and a star prize of a family pass to Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park.

Raffle tickets are now available from Weymouth Fire Station on Radipole Lane.
