Swindon fire station open day

Date: 26th June, 2024

An open day at Swindon fire station this Saturday (29 June) will raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity.

The event will be open between 11am and 4pm, and will feature demonstrations such as hot oil fires, technical rescue, road traffic collision extrication, putting out fires, and using the aerial ladder platform.

Other attractions will include first aid and CPR advice from SWAS, a raffle and tombola with lots of prizes, the Fire Service Store, a range of refreshments, and a display of vintage emergency vehicles.  There will also be an opportunity to talk to one of our team to find out more about our wholetime recruitment opportunities.

In addition, Swindon Town FC’s Academy will be taking part with a penalty shoot-out area, and other activities for children will include a bouncy castle.

Following from the positive feedback last year, we are pleased to announce we will be holding a quiet hour from 10am-11am for guests that may find busy crowds, flashing lights and sirens challenging.  We still have some tickets available for this.  If you feel you would benefit from the hour, please email [email protected]

Station Manager Dave Slawinski said: “We want this to be a great day for the whole family so, while we do want to raise as much money as possible for the Fire Fighters Charity, most of the activities are free and the price of refreshments has been kept low thanks to the support of local businesses. Last year’s open day was a great success so we’re looking forward to seeing lots of people on Saturday!”

Those attending the open day are requested to use public transport where possible but, if you need to drive, please park at Holy Cross Primary School on Queens Drive or St Joseph’s College in Ocotal Road, as they have kindly allowed the use of their car parks for the event.
