New name, new contact details, same Service

Date: 5th May, 2016

Since combination on 1st April, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has continued to build upon the good work of Wiltshire and Dorset FRSs with the introduction of FREE Safe and Well checks in your home. But they’ve updated their contact details and are encouraging residents not to be put off.

Residents across the two counties can request a Safe and Well check where a member of staff will visit you in your home, at a convenient time to see what we can do together to make you safer. DWFRS can also have a conversation with you around improving your health and well-being. They will fit free smoke alarms where required and offer advice to make you and your family safer and healthier in your home. To arrange a FREE check you can call FREE on 0800 038 2323 or sign up online at dwfire.org.uk

Safe and Well Manager, Marie-Clare Gale said: “This is not a new service we’re offering but we do want to spread the word. We are aware some residents of Dorset have been put off answering our new Salisbury area code numbers (01722) so we want to reassure residents if they are expecting a call back from us that it may register as a Salisbury number. Most importantly we want to remind people they can call Freephone on 0800 038 2323 to register for a check.”

A Safe and Well check appointment normally lasts about one hour and covers topics such as:

Marie-Clare added: “If you have thatch property, are living alone, have a young family, are over 65 or a smoker please get in contact with us. We want to help make you safer in your own home. If you or someone you know has mobility or sight and hearing impairments please suggest a Safe and Well visit.”
