Date: 5th December, 2017

The young people, all aged between 12 and 18, have chosen to support Alzheimer’s Support as their first social action project. As well as fundraising, they are assisting at the charity’s day club, taking part in games and activities.

Youth intervention coordinator Christine Sharma said: “The Cadets were asked to nominate a charity to get involved with, and the bag packing at Tesco will raise awareness of Alzheimer’s Support, as well as providing additional funds. We will be at the store between 6pm and 8.30pm, and I hope lots of shoppers will donate!”

The aim of Fire Cadets is to support the development of young people by providing a positive role model and giving them opportunities to participate in a wide range of activities. The programme is delivered by firefighters and volunteers and lasts for 38 weeks, with drills taking place every Wednesday evening in term time.
