Amesbury fire station holds open day

Date: 1st August, 2016

Amesbury fire station is holding an open day between 10am and 4pm this Saturday (6 August).

Visitors will be able to see the appliances based at the Salisbury Road site, plus others from elsewhere in Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.

There will be a number of displays throughout the day, including firefighting demonstrations, a chip pan fire simulator, and information about becoming an on-call firefighter.

As well as seeing the vehicles and equipment used by the Fire and Rescue Service, visitors will also be able to enjoy a range of stalls, refreshments and activities, including a bouncy castle for children.

Proceeds from the day will be split between the Fire Fighters Charity and Salisbury District Hospital’s Stars Appeal.

Station Manager Tom Brolan said: “This is the first time that an open day has been held at Amesbury for some years, so we’re hoping for sunshine and a lot of visitors, so we can raise money for two great charities! This is a great opportunity to find out about what we do, and we’re particularly keen to see people who might be interesting in joining the Fire and Rescue Service as an on-call firefighter and helping to protect the Amesbury community.”
