Description: We were called at 2.57pm today (12 August) to Woodrow Road, Forest to reports of a fire in the open involving a barn. Crews from Chippenham, Trowbridge x2, Calne, Devizes, Corsham, Warminster, a water carrier from Pewsey along with crews from Bath x2 (Avon FRS) and Frome (Devon & Somerset FRS) are currently in attendance. Firefighters are using main jets to extinguish.
Local residents have been informed to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke in the area.
7pm update: The fire has now been contained and the incident has been scaled back to five appliances and a water carrier.
9pm update: Firefighters are dampening down hotspots and monitoring. Two relief crews and a water carrier remain on scene.
Wednesday, 10am update: Two pumping appliances remained on scene overnight to continue damping down and extinguish hotspots. A handover took place at 6:30am today and one pump is now in attendance. A fire investigation took place and while no cause has been confirmed, we do not believe the fire to have been started deliberately.
Thursday, 9am update: Our stop came in at 8.39pm yesterday and all crews had left the scene by approx 10.15pm.
