False Alarm Good Intent

Date: 22nd February, 2022

Time: 19:22

Description: At 19:22 we received a call reporting a youth was walking along the counterweight passing over the weir on Gladstone Road in Chippenham. The caller returned to the area and confirmed that the youth could no longer be seen. Unable to ascertain whether or not the youth had left the scene or had fallen into the water, 2 fire engines were mobilised from Chippenham along with the rescue units from Trowbridge. Along with Wiltshire Police a full search was carried out of the area. No persons were located in or near to the water and at around 9pm there was information that suggested the youth had been observed on CCTV leaving the scene.
