Description: Passing member of the public phoned 999 after hearing an alarm and seeing smoke from a property on Northmere Road. Crews located a fire in a ground floor kitchen involving a tea towel on a hob which was extinguished by removal. Quick thinking from this member of the public prevented a much more serious incident. If in doubt, always call 999.
