Lorry fire – M4 motorway

Date: 23rd December, 2020

Time: 13.15

Description: Fire crews from Westlea and Swindon with a water carrier from Royal Wootton Bassett attended a lorry fire on the M4 motorway this afternoon. The fire involved a wheel on the trailer unit which was extinguished by the driver using a dry powder extinguisher. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to conduct a thorough check of the vehicle and its load. The Highways Agency traffic officers closed lane one in order to make a safe area for our crews.
